Although since 2009 the bric-a-brac trade is allowed on the whole circuit as of Saturday 7:00, Saturday remains the privileged day for collectors…
In 2010, it will be the twenty-fifth time that Temploux organizes a day dedicated to collectors. Year after year, this is THE day of the collectors. They wake up early. In a hushed atmosphere, they look for the “piece” they are missing. This time again they will be able to find old books, old papers, comic strips, records, coins, stamps, postcards, pin’s, cards, ancient toys, modeling, match boxes, photo cameras, brewery items, ancient dolls, mini bottles of alcohol, perfume samples, advertising posters and marketing items; enameled plates, Coca-Cola, cinema, marine items, ink pots and penholders, watches, coffee mills, piggy banks, automatons, toy soldiers, shells, medals, saltcellars, and card decks.
To enable the true amateurs of « real » collectors to find the item of their dream easily, the circuit reserved for the collector will not be extended and will remain the same as previous years and this against many requests.
Lately, more and more foreigners come to Temploux for the collector day. The Dutch are very fond of collectors. After a visit of Temploux in 1996, a specialized newspaper “VerzamelKrant » decided to organize journeys to Temploux for the collector day every year.
The collector day starts on Saturday, as of 7:00.
Spaces cost 3€ per square meter for Saturday from 7:00 till 17:00 and, in the marquee, 13€ per meter of table for both days (price VAT included).
… and the comic strips
In 1984 and 1985 the weekend started on Saturday with a comic strip festival. This idea had to be abandoned for several reasons, but Temploux has always kept a real passion for comic strips. Many comic strip collectors are present on Saturday. This is the reason why, in 2009, we gave cartoonists a special attention and organized a sign session on Saturday afternoon.
